It's ALIVE

I've still been having some problems with my other blog.
So if any of you see this, could you leave a comment so I know if people still visit (as I can't post on the other one to say to look here).

Help is appreciated.

I can't stay in one place.

Future dated, just so everyone will see it.

Go Here

You will have to create an account in order to see almost everything, because I want to be able to see who's reading it. For those of you who read HT blogs, it's no more of an inconvenience than that.

Hope it all works well.

And in response to Rach, you can now register.

A Weird Sort of Fortunate.

Fortunately, I woke up on my own an hour before my alarm was set to go off. A lot of grumbling ensued as I knew, even though I was so very tired, I wouldn't be sleeping fitfully for the next hour (generally after the first awakening I sleep in bouts of 5-30 minutes). The sleep came on and off, just like expected.
Then the alarm went off, I opened my eyes, turned off the alarm and then closed my eyes again and realized that it was all a dream and so I woke up for real. Nope, I still had 15 minutes to go. I went back to sleep, knowing full well that it was okay, my alarm would wake me up. 25 minutes later I get up and grumble again about not being able to sleep. I looked at the clock again, but I noticed something: the alarm wasn't on. It was set and ready for 7:15, but didn't get turned on. Seeing as I have to be at work at 8:00 there was a little bit of panic.
If I hadn't woken up early, I probably would have slept until work called me (which they generally do after you're about 10 minutes late).

On another note, I got quite a surprise when I last went to the grocery store. I saw a car that I had read an article on, many (~ 5) years. At the time I thought it looked cool, now when I think about it, it looks like a tiny plastic toy car - barely better than a motorcycle in terms of safety.

That's what moving means to me.

Today mom came and talked for a while after Bible study, and while doing that she brought up a few things. A few things being a grill, a nightstand and my bike (after seeing my bike again, it's in pretty pathetic shape). That bike could not stay in the middle of our living area, so I had to clean out the storage area on the main level to fit that bike in there. Some of the boxes that were currently inhabiting the storage room had to make way as they both could not occupy the same space, laws of the universe and what-not.
After a few seconds of thought, it was decided that we'd take out the sturdiest, and biggest, boxes for books. So since the boxes were out, they needed to be filled (aside from the random packing paper and large amounts of plastic bags). See below to see the after effects. One bookshelf that was falling to pieces is currently outside by the dumpster and it's contents are now in a couple of rather large boxes.
It's not as messy now, but - wow - that was about 30 minutes of careful tiptoeing around the apartment so as not to step and trip and fall.

In other news, I'm sick-feeling and the Melatonin is really kicking in right about now... so bye bye, I've got to get up for work tomorrow.

Great Gumbo Batman!

Because my mother and sister requested the recipe for my mother's amazing gumbo (I managed to get the hand-written recipe while my mother was cooking it, so I have the only copy. Pretty cool.), and I thought more people might like it as well, here is the recipe:

1 Chicken (or four leg pieces)
1lb frozen okra
1 green pepper
1 onion
1-2 ribs of celery
1/3lb sausage or some ham
1lb can of tomatoes
(optional) some shrimp or crab, or other seafood meat.

Stew chicken, debone, etc.

Brown sausage with onion, pepper, and celery.
Add 1/4-1/2 cup of white flour.
Cook 10-40 minutes, scraping bottom so it browns and doesn't stick.

Cook together:
Chicken, broth, tomatoes, meats and veggies.
Add garlic (to taste), 1 tsp sugar, 2 tsp salt, black pepper, 1/2 tsp thyme, 1/2 tsp oregano. When boiling add okra. (May add cayenne)

Serve over rice.

My mother tagged me to list seven, random, unrelated, uninteresting facts about myself. So here we go.

1. I write, or start writing, at least twice as many blog posts as the ones that y'all see.

2. I read a total of 14 webcomics.

3. My record for most pictures taken in one day is 146, on November 7th 2005.

4. I named my computer Celia.

5. There are two things I constantly fiddle with, one is a toddler toy and the other is the very sharp staple-remover.

6. I know how to drive just as well with my left foot as with my right (comes from taking long car trips with no cruise-control).

7. The best watch I ever had came from the bargain bin at Wal-mart.

And since I'm also supposed to guilt seven other people into doing this too: I tag... Heidi, Rachel (since she didn't answer mom's tag), Phil, Paul, pick-a-trip...andB, the googlebot that crawls my site, and Nat.

So I'm Learning

Even though prior to today I had no clue what a cover letter was, I'm researching and writing one so that I can send out a couple more resumes tomorrow.
Not exactly how I wanted to spend my evening, but it's constructive.

And I wonder, why advertise on a nationwide job site that you want people to apply in person, even for jobs that aren't immediate openings? Doesn't that just seem a little weird to you?

And thus do I puff up myself with pretty buzz-words.
This is why I hated writing essays for scholarships, and here I am... at it again. At least I've had practice this time around.
